The history of slavery, shared by all inhabitants of the Netherlands Antilles, Surinam and the Netherlands, is still not sufficiently recognized and passed on. Therefore the World museum in Rotterdam, the Netherlands has taken the initiative to come with the exposition 'The Legacy of Slavery'. Felix de Rooy, a Curaçao native, made the exhibition and Rene Wissink did the design.

In Rotterdam this exposition was open for the general public from November 2003 until November 2004 and attracted more than 66.000 visitors. Curaçao and Surinam contributed with collections, works of art and information that was lent out to exhibit.
This amazing exposition with hundreds of artefacts testimonies of slavery original illustrations, videos of testimonies, mannequins dressed up in the styles of Curaçao and Surinam and the treasure of maroon slaves, the slaves that ran away, is going on tour and its first stop will be Curaçao. This exposition will be inaugurated on July the 1st, the Day for the Abolition of Slavery.
Exposition hours are:
On workdays: from 08.00 - 16.00 oclock
During weekends: from 10.00 - 16.00 oclock
Special events during weekends will be announced according to each event.
Entrance fee: Ang. 3,- p.p. and free for school groups.
